Who We Are

GLGI, a Canadian company, is pleased to present the "Global Learning Giving Initiative". This program is a unique opportunity that allows you to help Canadian charities provide Canadians access to computer based education and globally recognized certification.

Since 2004 participants of the GLGI program have helped tens of thousands of people aquire the necessary skills to bridge the digital divide. Thus far, the GLGI program has distributed over a million licenses to learners, making it one of the largest computer and soft skills training user base in Canadian history with users of the GLGI courseware in almost every province and territory. With their newly aquired education, and for some, certification, citzens all over Canada have been able to either find employment or maintain their current employment status.

Our team is made up of experts in the area of tax law, tax accounting, education, and fundraising. Our wide network of representatives across Canada can help you understand this incredible tax program better, allowing you to aid in the training and education of thousands while saving yourself some taxes during these economically challenging times.

Our Program

The structure of the GLGI program has been created with the help of leading Canadian tax experts. Participation in the GLGI program is simple and starts by completing our application forms with a representative from your local area.

The process begins with a request for approval to become a beneficiary of the Global Learning Trust (2004). Approval is based on two criteria: first, that you have donated to a registered Canadian charity in the recent past and second, that you are a Canadian taxpayer. If approved as a beneficiary of the trust, you will become eligible to receive valuable educational courseware.

Next we ask that you donate this courseware to one of our participating charities in order to provide those in need with access to these programs. The courseware is evaluated by two independent and accredited valuation firms to establish the Fair Market Value (FMV) of your gift. The decision to donate is yours, but if you choose to proceed, you will receive a charitable tax receipt equal to the FMV of the courseware. This donation is the gift-in-kind portion of the program.

You will be encouraged to make a cash donation to one of our participating charities which, although emphatically encouraged, is also voluntary. This donation plays a vital part of these charities; it not only allows them to provide no cost learning to recipients, but contributes to other community initiatives as well. If you decide to proceed with this second donation, a charitable tax receipt will also be mailed to you. We urge you to take part in our Giving Initiative. The process is simple, and the results are endless.

What We Do

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

The Global Learning Initiative promotes real, meaningful change through greater access to the tools of education. Our donated courseware materials, support to outreach and resource centres as well as industry recognized certification programs, all work to empower the individual open new opportunities and promise a brighter quality of life for both the students and the larger community.

Your contribution can make a genuine difference in the lives of these recipients. The donation process is simple and requires just a few minutes of your time. For more information please contact one of our representatives to assist you.

Why Participate

Charities play an important role in the Canadian society. Our federal and provincial governments provide generous tax incentives to encourage individuals to make contributions to registered charities.

An individual can claim charitable gifts up to 75% of their net annual income. Gifts can be in the form of monetary donations or in-kind donations. A gift-in-kind refers to property other than cash. A charity that receives a gift-in-kind can issue a tax receipt for the fair market value of the gift on the date it was donated.

With the GLGI program, Canadians are able to maximize on the tax incentives associated with making donations to registered charities, as well as helping fellow Canadians acquire the necessary skills that lead to employment.

The courseware that is acquired is distributed to a large network of computer centres and community outreach organizations across Canada. It is administered through trained and dedicated individuals to ensure that all learners capitalize on the opportunity they have been given.

Your suppport makes it possible to assist marginalized Canadians to find a job, seek higher education, and be able to benefit from vital online services.
